Finger Alignment Stretching Maneuver

The Finger Alignment Stretching Maneuver is similar to the Finger Interlock Maneuver in terms of hand opposition. But, this technique utilizes a stretching / pulling action of the two hands.

Procedure:

Part 1. Spread your fingers slightly apart and separate your arms slightly greater than shoulder width. Slowly bring our hands together so that your fingers now interlock. While keeping your fingers interlocked, slowly flex at each wrist one at a time. Hold the wrist in a comfortably stretched position for several seconds. Rotate back and forth between hands for a minute or two, maintaining full concentration and focus on the hands. Only stretch to a comfortable position.

Part 2. Now, keeping your hands interlocked, turn your clasped hands "inside out", such that your palms are now facing outward at eye level. Your arms are now straight, with a slight bend at the elbows. Hold in this position for several seconds and rotate them back to where the palms are now facing your heart. Hold in this position for several seconds and turns your palms outward once again. Try to coordinate your breath with the palm rotations. When your palms are moving outward, away from the face, exhale and when returning toward your heart, inhale.

Complete for approximately one minute, or to a comfort level.

Benefits:

  • Promotes increased circulation in hands and fingers and entire body.
  • Excellent for enhanced flexibility of the hands and arms.
  • Assists in improving coordination and focus.
