Finger Interlock Maneuver

The Finger Interlock Maneuver is the second of the warm-up exercises. Whereas the hand friction maneuver relies on friction to create the desired effect, this maneuver consists of compression and pulling. As you perform this stretch, imagine your fingers are moldable clay. Complete this exercise very slowly and with full intention.

Procedure:

Spread your fingers slightly apart and separate your arms slightly greater than shoulder width. Slowly bring our hands together so that your fingers now interlock. The actual interlock contact is only for a second, followed by an abrupt pulling apart of your hands, while slightly compressing the opposing hands.

Visualize that as you are pulling your hands apart, you are literally pulling water off the opposing hand. This visualization may assist you in gaining the proper amount of compression on the opposing hand.

  COMPLETE 3 TIMES QUICKLY,
and THEN 3 TIMES WITH EYES CLOSED

Benefits:

  • Promotes increased circulation in hands and fingers and entire body.
  • Stimulates the motor nerves.
  • Assists in improving coordination and focus.
